Single Indian Tear – The Black Category 3″CDr

SNW

Here’s an act that doesn’t have much info anywhere yet is billed as acousmatic music on their myspace page. I’m not really sure that’s a good description for what Single Indian Tear does as I might describe it as “light experimental music”.

The Black Category is one 11 minute track of synth music ranging from droning textures, simple enduring melodies, and converging pads. It’s slow and this is most definitely synthesizer music not falling into stylized genres like new age, electronica, or ambient. It’s all three of those, yet not those either. Almost a pseudo academic edge to it but it certainly does paint an atmosphere that does evoke thought and inspiration at moments.

As I listen to this 3” I imagine it could be a rehearsed piece played live by two people with keyboard synthesizers and perhaps a few fx. I mention this to better illustrate the style and feel which is rather difficult to describe in words. Either way, it’s a solid effort with thought put into the composition and perhaps a touch of improvisation as well.
