Kevin Greenspon – Waypoint C10

Bridgetown Records

Waypoint is a quick little affair which is kind of a strange thing for drone music. If you are not familiar with the works of Kevin Greenspon he combines guitar drone, noise, and audio collage to form glassy floating compositions of ambient harmonies with variations wandering into experimental territory.

Both Waypoint and Renewal – which are placed on side a and b respectively- have a very similar vibe using bell-like fx on floating plucked guitar lines to create a beautiful and emotional atmosphere. The work is consistent and focused which makes it’s residual effects lasting.

This is such a quicky that it’s almost hard to get into the mood of the tracks though which makes Waypoint a challenge for the artist. It is however, certainly a good starting point and makes for a great sampling of Greenspon’s sound.
