+Dog+ – Bombed and Dangerous 7″ [Love Earth Music]
+Dog+’s influences can clearly be recognised on this 7″-release dating from 1994. First couple of minutes sound like a Neubauten gig from the very early eighties, then it goes more in the direction of a very early SPK-performance, and when the voice sets in we’re more or less heading into a Throbbing Gristle direction. Metal banging throughout the entire record, old school electronics and screams, all recorded live.
2673 – A Saffron Wasteland CDR [Self Released]
2673 is one of the other few people making noise in 2010 with a point of view so clear, so established in who they are as a musician and creative person, that with each new release he strips away more and more of what he isn’t to leave what’s most important. 2673, as his button states, isn’t noise per se, but PLAIN ELECTRONICS. His pieces are bolts of energy and tectonic waves, specific in timbre and frequency, and manipulated with patience and care. He emerges from the same universe as Morton Feldman and Eliane Radigue – his recordings are not songs but objects, that seem to hang in the air and breath and simply be.
2673 – In Dreams 3″CDR [Dokuro]
“In dreams” is a new great “alpha-wave stimulating” drone piece on Dokuro, released by the hermetic monicker 2673.
The track evolve from a pileup of deep bass overtones to a rebounding aphex of noisy waves via calibrated permutations of sound colours. In dreams is a truly deep listening experience that will leave you disconnected from reality.
A fascinating masterpiece of this New Jersey sound artist who mix perfectly opposite aspects of sound like pure tones and noise textures.
2673 aka Kevin Winter have on his shoulder an impressive discography and many collaborations with other key figures of the american undergroud scene.
DK012 is released as a ltd. 70 copies. Artwork by Merlo.
Aaron Dilloway – Chain Shot CD [ Hanson Records ]
A pair of side-long ghost-pirate themed (the cover-art is as illuminating as it is confounding) high-gain growlers from aaron dilloway; credited here with “junk metal” and “horn loops.” With each new chapter in dillo’s “solo career” i’m further impressed. The kind of “echo on everything” mentality that has (in the past) yielded some fine-but-definition-free music here works to thicken-up the elements into a full-frequency miasma whilst leaving the dragging chain / howling-banshee timbres intact. One of Aaron’s best.
Alan Courtis – Unstringed Guitar & Cymbals CD [Blossoming Noise]
For over a decade Alan Courtis has been producing extreme music in Argentina as a solo artist and with the now defunct Reynols. Unstringed Guitar & Cymbals is no different. This is massive sound.
Andrea Pensado – Ktotam CD [ Zeromoon ]
Improvisations with laptop (powered with MaxMSP) and voice. The voice has multiple functions: as a source (using texts, phonemes and all sort of utterances…), signal processor and controller. The approach to both performing and programming is highly intuitive. Mastered by Jeff Carey at The Doctor is OUT Studios.
Anemone Tube – Dream Landscape CDR [Silken Tofu]
‘Dream Landscape’ is the first official solo release by ANEMONE TUBE after 9 years of silence. Originally founded in 1996 in Southern Germany, ANEMONE TUBE has quite made a name for himself in the industrial/noise genre especially due to the psychogenic nature of his music.
On this new release ANEMONE TUBE creates massive ambient/noise soundscapes. The sounds are pulsating, drowning and floating, tormenting and caressing – all culminating in a haunting sonic experience.
‘Dream Landscape’ is – together with the album ‘Death over China’ – the first part of the ‘Suicide Series’. To this field recordings made in China provide a conceptional basis.
‘Dream Landscape’ is a concept album of fierce malignant power. In a poetic way ANEMONE TUBE combines analytical realism of the phenomenal world with buddhist psychology and nihilist rhetoric influenced by the visionary authors H.P. Lovecraft and Yukio Mishima.
Mastering by JAMES PLOTKIN, January/February 2010.

Armon Kuilu – Armon Kuilu CD [Freak Animal]
“The first release from Totuuden Sarvi Levyt is a piece of Finnish art destined to remain in the minds of those who hear it. The debut mini-album by Armon Kuilu is a funereal musical journey. two long progressive compositions built out mostly of classical piano. strings. orchestral drums. singing. prayers and invocations in male and female voices. More of a gothic work than a total assault on the senses. yet one must remember that the word gothic is often abused in connotation with just a melancholic form of new age entertainment music but here the soundscapes bring to mind images of forlorn cemetaries. initiatory cults. bloodletting. woodlands and altered states of consciousness. At times the melodies of chamber music break out into squeals. groans and crackling which haunt the space and resonate with the Finnish poetry. that most of the time reminds one of a satanic ceremony. Some passages sound familiar to the listeners of European avantgarde and progressive music such as ACTUS. ART ZOYD and releases from the label Athanor. Post-industrial fans should also listen to this work but remember that this is not your generic so-called occult album with the usual Crowley spoken parts. Instead this is a deeply personal work with challenging classical and sometimes jazz or progressive melodies composed by the master behind the project and performed by real musicians with authentic instruments and also utilizing real actors for the various voices and spoken parts. Believe me. you will hear the difference. The mini-album comes in a black & white sleeve with a full color 8-page art booklet (size 7×7″). built from nature-mystical imagery shot on infrared film.”
Ash Pool – For Which He Plies the Lash LP [Hospital Productions]
Second full length. Eight songs of big bang black metal by DOMINIC FERNOW (PRURIENT, COLD CAVE, Hospital Productions) and KRIS KAPKE (ALBERICH, NORTHERN CROSS). Our comrades at Second Layer tell it like it is: “The duo blasts out raw and disgusting primitive black metal, with lots of balance between neck-breaking speed and lurking mid-tempo howl, with even some grind-ish elements for good measure.”
AUN – Phantom Ghost LP [Denovali Records]
New full length of this groundbreaking Canadian duo! AUN’s previous travels took the duo to space, hell and back. Now home to tackle more earthly concerns ‘Phantom Ghost’ shows AUN at its most complex and determined, but also at its most accessible, while still quite adept to their use of extreme tones. Previous outings heralded as masterpieces of ambient and heavy psychedelic strains, ‘Phantom Ghost’ finds AUN’s considerable stylistic palette, augmented again. Fractured voice and locked dry, immovable, hypnotic rhythms are ethereal and experimental qualities, now find themselves magnified by a sound edging on indie-noise-rock, while also delving deeper into their penchant for pristine and shattered electronics. Drenched in celestial gazy-prog sheen, fuelled by blurry acid drenched dreams, ‘Phantom Ghost’ is AUN at its most otherworldly, but also most grounded and terrestrial. The Phantom and Ghost in focus here, could easily be of the supernatural variety, but are more the result of complex sound wave apparitions during the recording process. Very human in its essence and execution, but also increasingly beautifully machine driven, ‘Phantom Ghost’ is a wide new door opened by the constantly mutating AUN. For fans of : Sonic Youth, Cocteau Twins, Zoviet France, Troum, Can, Cabaret Voltaire, My Bloody Valentine, Popol Vuh, Chris and Cosey, Boards Of Canada, Eno, Ennio Morricone
Author & Punisher – Drone Machines CD [Heart & Crossbone Records]
By squelching, triggering, amputating, stretching and tormenting sounds achieved from the execution of heavy machinery into vivid instruments, Tristan Shone, the man behind Author & Punisher, offers “Drone Machines”, One of thee most eviscerated and innovating albums to come out in years. Nonetheless, “Drone Machines” is beyond avantgarde, in that exciting sense that it brings together slow-paced DOOM whips, modern technology, an eerie flood of vile drones and heavy machinery in a whole new perspective. It’s also an album that is reviving the INDUSTRIAL METAL genre from its ashes and rephrasing the primeval passion for that classic bestial drum pound with rancid low end and sonic-metallic scraping – and this unblemished contrast – between concrete innovation and the reinvigoration of lost sounds, is exactly what makes “Drone Machines” such an important, groundbreaking and iconic album. For years to come.
Recommended if you like Godflesh, HALO, Swans, Human Queena Orchestra, Dead World, Grave in the Sky, Khanate, Black Mayonnaise, Caspar Brtzmann Massaker, Trust Obey etc.
Avsky – Silent Decay CDR [Reverse Alignment]
Excellent newcomer in Norwegian dark ambient. Silent Decay carries all the sonic trademarks of quality dark ambient (see the Cyclic Law label for example), but besides that Avsky adds a certain personal twist to the compositions that serves to make him stand out from the ‘generic mass’ of dark ambience.
Bereft – First Degree of Separation / Removed From Security 2xC40 [Danvers State Recordings]
Reissue of the first two BEREFT releases and a compilation track from the same era… all material is long out of print. Heavy, blackened industrial rumblings and feedback drenched vocal assaults. Nearly two hours of material; a good look into the early works of the band.
Black Leather Jesus – Torture Machinist CD [ Industrial Recollections ]
Tape recorded originally back in 1994. Massive 5 piece line-up churning richly textured but extremely crude and brutal harsh noise in finest tradition of houston harsh noise scene. Freak Animal Records re-issued this as very limited CDR back in 2000, but since material simply is outstanding in all ways – in BLJ catalogue and harsh noise in general – it was obligatory to get material done on real CD. Now, 2009 Industrial Recollections release as CD, jewelbox, including all original artworks of tape!
Black Leather Jesus/Richard Ramirez – Scrapyard CD [ Phage Tapes ]
Reissue of this classic Harsh Noise vinyl LP released back in 1995 in the German label Praxis Dr. Bearmann. R.O.N.F. Records and Phage Tapes united forces to unbury this gem up including the full album plus one extra track by Richard Ramirez. Real factory pressed CD packaged in jewel case with new artwork by Jovan Hernandez. Limited edition of 500 copies. 4 tracks / 51 minutes Length.
Bleeding Heart Narrative – All That Was Missing We Never Had In The World CD [Cold Spring]
Reissue of the stunning debut BHN album from spring 2008 (Ltd x 200). Working with a constantly evolving autumnal orchestra of layered cellos, repeating piano melodies, hushed vocals and mutant textures of sound and noise, Bleeding Heart Narrative has constructed a unique, haunting and compelling album. BHN is the work of sole composer, artist and producer Oliver Barrett, working in the live spectrum as a septet. Presented in a digipak with the new and exclusive bonus track ‘Blueskywards’. We can’t recommend this highly enough!
Body Cargo/Pogrom – Resistance CD [Terror/Cipher Productions]
This album has united two Lithuanian projects under a theme of resistance. Papua New Guinea cannibals’ resistance against outsider effects is different from resistance of interwar period Lithuanian guerrillas, but you can find these associations on a musical plane, and Body Cargo and Pogrom each present their own interpretations. Both projects deliver four solo tracks each. Body Cargo’s creations are filthy post-morten and Pogrom this time seeks a balance between aggression and romance (there’s even a piano!). There are also two joint tracks, where first Pogrom does sounds and Body Cargo delivers vocals and then vice versa. 10 tracks and a playing time of more than an hour. This is the first Body Cargo release on CD!
You can also find a symbolic link between two labels that released this album. Cipher Productions is geographically closer to Body Cargo themes and Terror is on the same land as Pogrom. Jewel case packaged with an 8 page booklet, 300 copies. Co-release with Cipher Productions
Bradbury – Instant Oblivion CD [DualPLover]
Sydney Australia’s favourite chronically depressed, long term unemployed, alcoholic, asthmatic, homosexual electronic music pioneer. A man who’s just spent the waking half of the last two years concocting this, his third collection of solo works titled ‘INSTANT OBLIVION’ between copious amounts of drinks and bouts with day time television. If his previous effort the lauded “RUFFINI CORPUSCLE” was a plumb designed to measure the depths of a luscious aural abyss. This album is the measurement discovered by its predecessors journey delving deep into exquisite musical epiphany.
Brandkommando – Patria Socialismo o Meurte! CDR [Sickcore]
Minimalist death industrial atmospheres similar to the sounds of Atrax Morgue or N from this Russian label.
Breast Fed Yak – Get Your Greasy Head off the Sham CD [ Birdman Records ]
According to Paul Lemos, an original member of the NY-based experimental/industrial group Controlled Bleeding, his new Breast Fed Yak project “ha[s] completely put aside all electronics on these new recordings [and have gone] back to something much more primal….” Indeed: imagine a naked, 350-pound superhero scatting like Ella Fitzgerald having an epileptic fit (longtime Controlled Bleeding collaborator Joe Papa) backed by a band of Plutonians (Lemos and Yoshida Tatsuya of Ruins) who challenge their instruments to defy the electricity coming out of their 50,000 fingertips. With influences that include Ennio Morricone, Albert Ayler, Captain Beefheart, Sun Ra, and spy movie themes, Get Your Greasy Head Off The Sham mocks classification that terms such as “soul-pain,” “dis-funk,” and “Sunset Stripped R&B spasmcore” try to capture. With guest appearances by Hakan Almkvist (of Ensemble Nimbus fame) on sitar and The Holy Trinity High School Detention Choir, this music on this album, according to Birdman, will kill you, although not without saving you the last dance at your funeral.
BT.HN & Sistrenatus – Exposing the Ribcage CDR [Existence Establishment]
Existence Establishment helps usher in the Canadian invasion with this brutal masterpiece of wall-noise drone. BT.HN (The Rita & Sick Buildings) and Sistrenatus (formerly Funerary Call) present one long harrowing track of pure depravity. Droning overblown synths, unrelenting spasms of crunchy distortion, and subtle atmosphere form a hopeless barrage of industrial waste.
C.C.C.C. – Chaos Is The Cosmos CD [Cold Spring]
We are very proud to announce the return of C.C.C.C. to Cold Spring (after their outstanding album ‘Flash’ in 1996).This is also the first album from C.C.C.C. in 10 years! This cult Japanese Noise group is made up of Hiroshi Hasegawa (Astro, YBO2, South Saturn Delta), Mayuko Hino, Fumio Kosakai (Hijokaidan, Incapacitants), and Ryuichi Nagakubo (Tangerine Dream Syndicate). An absolutely essential album for those with a penchant for extreme Japanoise. Just under 45 minutes of music.
Carlos Giffoni – Adult Life CD [No Fun Productions]
This is shining and pure electronic music. Adult Life continues Carlos Giffoni’s work in slow-building drones but he also imbues these new compositions with subtle structure, melodic sequences and blind-siding rhythmic pulses which recall the many pioneers of electronic composition, among them Cluster, Brian Eno, Kraftwerk, and Tangerine Dream. The caustic melding of foreboding abstraction and lively pulse raises Adult Life to a paradigm of the breathing and the immaculate, a strange set of dichotomies finding a shocking common ground. Original Illustrations for this full length by Megan Ellis.
Cathartec/Noisepoetnobody – Split C40 [Self Released]
Split between two modular synthesizer Seattle-based artists. Slowly evolving soundscapes, minimalist atmospheres leading to heightened emotional landscapes.
Cisfinitum – Tactio CD [Mechanoise Labs]
With a parsimonious discography mostly released on seasoned Russian labels such as Waystyx, Ewers Tonkunst and Monochrome Vision, Evgeny Voronovsky has established himself as a uniquely engaging artist in the country’s current ambient scene. Under the name of Cisfinitum, he has taken a syncretic approach to an often codified genre, uniting his formal training as a violinist at the Moscow State University with his affinity for concrete sounds and experimental structures. Past releases have shown a capacity to synthesize these factors at times while emphasizing the contrasts between them at others, sometimes over the course of a single track. In this aspect, this album follows the tradition faithfully.
Tactio is the live recording of a Cisfinitum concert at the St. Petri Dom (St. Peter’s Cathedral) in Bremen, on November 24, 2005. The particular (and as expected highly favorable) acoustics of this environment were consistently used not only as an enhancing effect but as an integral foundation for the performance, making it unmistakably tied to its context. Presented in the form of six continuous tracks, the album is a contemplative composition of vibrant drones, reverberating bells and synthesized resonance, gracefully evolving from the celestial tones of its start to the tellurian pulses of its climax. This is a piece of work that is elaborate in its simplicity, and it’s with much appreciation that it is presented here today. The beautiful iconic artwork by Evgeny Kuprienko further emphasizes the relic-like qualities of this recording.
Cloama & Blutlechte CD [Neuroscan Organisation]
“Cloama and Blutleuchte rise anew From Wasteland Mausoleums with desolate, cryptic and evocative soundscapes of the world beyond perception. Further removed from the noise and power electronics beginnings of both projects, here one is to find experiments in candlelit rituals, analogicism inspired by early German electronic pioneers, voices and hauntings and crushing guitar. Melodies and raw noise interlap as the twin phases of existence or the primal creations of deities both wrathful and dreaming.
The CD is comprised of 12 tracks with a total duration of almost an hour of parapsychological exploits. Comes in a jewelcase with an 8-page UV coated booklet containing lyrics and exclusive art.”
Cloama – Death Certificate 7″ [Freak Animal]
One of the most original and unique assaults of Cloama. A-side presenting organic/acoustic take of power electronics, while b-side has two tracks with more innovative PE/industrial sounds.
Clon/Christian Galarreta – Indigencia Tecnológica CDR [Sonora Discs]
Massive clusters of sound collide with stark atmospheres and barren electronics to form a scientific swarm of drones. Shifting windstorms, empty plains, surging torrents, and undulating aquifers. About 45 minutes of material offered from these Puerto Rican sound artists.
Content Nullity – Rotting Walls of Decaying Sound 3″CDR [Scrape Tapes]
Excellent mix of heavy death industrial, harsh noise, and more rhythmic textures. 5 tracks totaling around 20 minutes. A brutal yet varied disc. Limited to 50 copies and currently out of print.
Corephallism – Corephallism 3″CD [Self Released]
Corephallism is a side project of Shane Broderick of TwoDeadSluts OneGoodFuck fame. Speaking In Tongues employs creepy church organ sequences and quickly envelopes the listener in it’s seething and throbbing drones of pure blackened bliss.
Corpoparassita – L’affannoso Respiro del Gatto CDR [ Abgvrd ]
Itialian Dark Ambient project. Surrealistic macabre. Soft harmonic drones and ambiences, bass-guitar, gloomy scratches. Contemporary tales of parallel worlds.
Corpuscle – Victorian Snuffbox C40 [Maniacal Hatred]
The boys of Boston are back with their 3rd release featuring some gorgeous gold silkscreen on black paper for this cassette. It’s apparent that they’ve also honed their sound as well into a more cohesive and tight mix. Playing noise, industrial, power electronics and wall noise.
Corvuz – ночной туман CD [Zhelezobeton]
The debut album of a musician from the city of Oryol, Russia, released with the support of ZHELEZOBETON label. “Invisible Landscapes” is dark ambient recorded with a typical Russian approach combining homage to native traditions, deeply melancholic contemplation and powerful thirst for the beyond. Dark red embers, twilight, wind sways over tree crowns, lost eyesight of the consciousness wandering in forest labyrinths and gradually dissolving in the infinite circle of life and death… Rich sound of Soviet analogue synthesizers, a bit of field recordings, voice samples and digital processing – this is the pallette used for creating this image. It feels that the music of Curvuz is inspired by the project Staruha Mha, a cover-version of its track rounds up the album. The album was mastered by Sergey Uak-Kib (Kshatriy), artwork performed by Sergey Ilchuk (Siyanie, ex-Vetvei & Vresnit Art). Digipak.
Creation Through Destruction/Black Leather Jesus – Split CD [Terror]
CD for old-school harsh noise fans. Creation Through Destruction – harsh noise project from Serbia. Alex is perhaps more known for his activity as Dead Body Collection, but this time he provides something more than a wall. Absolutely raw and brute noise. Without any pleasant feedbacks, samples, melodies and so on. Black Leather Jesus – legendary harsh noise project from Texas. This time the band provides strong and harsh material. More than 50 minutes of pure harsh noise in all its beauty. For purists. 8 page booklet. Jewel case. 300 copies.
Crest – Crest 218/Nova Stereometria Doliorum Vinariorum 2xCDR [Reverse Alignment]
From the dark, noisey pits of Partille comes this rough double album from Crest. Second after the two year old crustburst ” Kajaani, Sotkamo, Perkele!”, on PAS-83 productions, this excellent album sees the day of light. Here you..ll find a package full of intense analogue powerstructures and noncompromising attitude that makes your industrial heart beat faster…Daniel Jansson (Deadwood, S.T.U.G. 218) appears on Crest 218 as well(!).
Professionally made CDrs in a limited edition of 100 copies in dvd cover (handnumbered).
Current 93/Skitliv – Bloodletting 10″EP [ Cold Spring ]
Limited edition 10″ Picture disc from SKITLIV, the project of former MAYHEM front man MANIAC.
With a line up that includes SHINING’s NIKLAS KVARFORTH, SKITLIV is a disturbed, and disturbing, blackened doom journey through the mind of this legendary Black Metal vocalist who was one of the original exponents of the genre, and is one of its most recognisable figures.
This picture disc is made extra special not only by the inclusion of “Who Will Deliver Us From Gold and Planets” by CURRENT 93 – an introductory collage destruct that was created at the request of Maniac and is dedicated to him, but also because the artwork that is used for the side containing this track is part of one of Tibet’s own paintings.
Ltd x 777 copies. No repress.
[ Sample 1 ]
Dalina – Cold Mysteries CD [Casus Belli Musica]
Slavonic Folk Ambient from Belarus. Dalina is a project of Darkut (Bardjar, ex-Zmrok). Prolonged, unhurried songs, melancholic and pensive with a leading role here played by acoustic guitar, crystal clear flue, harp and natural sounds such as running water, birdsong, the creaking of trees in the wind and the rustling of leaves. Imagine yourself sitting at nighttime in a snow-swept cabin, watch a trembling candle and listening to ancient tales of the outside world. Ltd x 500 copies.
Dead Man’s Hill – Spirits CD [ Steinklang Industries ]
Over the last 7 years, DEAD MAN’S HILL became a well known and much appreciated artist in Ritual Ambient, Neoclassic and Bombastic Martial Music and with this new album, the band drags the listener into alternate realities and far away spheres. The lyrics are mainly dealing with travelling in these worlds. Musically the album goes further in the vein of Lakes of Sacrifice (2006) but a lot deeper-going and much more worked out, so you can say that “Spirits” is definitely the band’s best album up to date. Dark and deep-dronning Ambient, mixed with strong and powerful Martial songs, varied with hypnotically mesmerizing Tribal parts. All in all the whole Album has a strong Death Industrial touch and even carries some Gregorian elements. Listen to this album, and let yourself take away to a intangible world, to far away shperes where things are just different to all You ever expected. “Spirits” includes a video from the track Road to Sweet Waters, made by Alex Hugin Wieser. 8 songs / 65 min.
Deadwood – Ramblack LP [ Cold Spring ]
“Ramblack” is the follow up to Deadwood’s successful 2005 album “8 19″ (CSR53CD). Over the past 3 years this Swedish artist has been toiling away, creating a new black ambient / death noise masterpiece and “Ramblack” is the result. Cloaked in a more raw and morbid sound then its predecessor, this album truly changes one’s perspective of audial darkness. This analogue beast of an album layers the tonal prayers of demons and the distorted cries of angels, sickness and depravity. True Death Electronics. The soundtrack to your end. “Ramblack” features guest vocals from Norwegian Black Metal legend Maniac (Skitliv, ex-Mayhem), whose vocal approach on the song ‘Forakt’ shows the full range of his capacity. Truly one of the most sick and twisted pieces of sonic art ever recorded. Enjoy the disease!
Deathpile – G.R. CD [ Hospital Productions/Force of Nature ]
After a long silence Deathpile returns with their first official full length release focusing on the Green River Murders in Seattle from the early 1980′s. Lyrics are written from the chronological perspective of the killer, exploring key events and balancing truculent physical situations and aberrant psychological terrain, with terse delivery.
Nine tracks of dense and rushing power electronics and sado-ambient atmospheres. Fierce, verging on hysterical vocals and well placed and researched audio samples stand above thick and violent synth beds.
By far Deathpile’s most cohesive, strong, and obsessive work fine turned with stark violent force and ritual atmosphere. Not to be missed for fans of sadistic power electronics!
Ten page fold out lyrics insert, and mastering by Scott Hull (Agoraphobic Nosebleed/Pig destroyer/ ex- Anal Cunt/ Japanese Torture Comedy Hour).
Double Awake – Foundlings C30 [Slow Blood Music]
Moan and drone from this Boston artist. Synth and loop pedal improvisations working up to frenzied climaxes. For fans of Emeralds, Grouper.
Emeralds – What Happened CD [No Fun Productions]
Emeralds is at the forefront of a new American movement that continues the experimentation in analog electronics of the 60′s and 70′s while ignoring the formulaic and boring turn electronic music took in the later part of the 20th century. Add a renewed energy gained from their connections to the noise movement, and you have some of the most original and true music of the new century. ‘What Happened’ continues their exploration in tonal beauty of their recent work that brought to mind pioneers like Tangerine Dream and Cluster, while presenting a new approach to structure that brings to mind masters like Luc Ferrari and opens our ears to a new universe full of astonishing possibilities. This is the true new American infinite electronic music of our present. Recorded by Emeralds and mastered by James Plotkin.
Encomiast – Bathed in Sunlight CDR [Crucial Bliss]
Bathed In Sunlight is the breatakingly beautiful new full length from the longrunning Denver drone ensemble Encomiast, featuring five lengthy tracks of instrumental bliss from Ross Hagen and company that bring together slowly drifting drones speckled with shifting layers of angelic female vocal harmonies, lilting Loveless-esque melodies, ominous ambience floating over simple hand drum rhythms, dramatic dark pop with strummed acoustic guitars and Ross’ deep crooning vocals…and more of the ghostly flute playing that has always set Encomiast apart from the rest of the drone/ambient underground. Fans of Encomiast’s previous releases are going to be surprised when they hear songs like “Laughter In The Storm” , whose droning psychedelic folk is unlike anything that Ross has done before, a thoroughly entracing combination of droning electronics and brooding acoustic strum. And then there’s the stunning finale “Evergreen”, opening with gently acoustic guitar swimming in delay before a gorgeous female voice enters under a slight veil of distortion, like she’s singing from the other end of a long distance phone call, the distortion then lifting revealing her voice in perfect clarity. A simple but perfect effect. The melody in this song is likewise simple but perfect, a melancholy hook that is gradually joined by drums and electronic drones as the song evolves, turning into a amazing piece of dreamy ambient post-rock pop. Fans of Encomiast’s previous droneworks and the kind of evocative ambient rock that Temporary Residence is known for will LOVE Bathed In Sunlight, which travels the luminescent ley lines between ambient dronescapes, folk music, and post-rock.
The packaging for this release is pretty damn great, if I do say so myself, with mysterious images and artwork provided by Ross presented in a labor-intensive hand-sewn heavy paper sleeve designed by us at Crucial Blast (in the same style as the Havens disc), and released in a limited edition of 200 copies.

Filivs Macrocosmi – Сталкер CD [OMS Records]
“Stalker is an elaborate puzzle. Its pieces are always scattered, and Filivs Macrocosmi relies on his listener to bring the final element of the puzzle along with him. One of Stalker’s many treats is that it invites you to get carried away into your own thoughts, flowing with the images as it provides new questions to ponder… In that sense, the album is very much like a philosophical poem: a very simple surface covering innumerable layers of meaning. One extremely long ride in a cart, with clunking metal and water-whooshing sounds, is fascinating and hypnotic. FM downplayed the science fiction aspects of the movie, making the album more about philosophical and spiritual concerns leaving us at the threshold of the Room where all our most cherished desires come true. Welcome to your Self, an alien place guarded by barbed wire…”
Package – 3-panel fullcolor glossy paper cover. Ltd.ed. to 500.
Filivs Macrocosmi/Charadriiform – Ex Vivo CD [A5 Production]
One long collaborative dark ambient / drone track from two Ukrainian projects. “Since the beginning of time mankind has been fascinated by Space. In 1961, the technical genius of Soviet scientists proved that man can master the cosmos. But how many people think about the fact that in addition to the celebrations, glory and indescribable feelings, a flight beyond Earth may bring pain, suffering, madness? In our work Ex Vivo (Lat. “from life”), we would like to reveal all the faces of flights, which are not talked about – loneliness, isolation from the usual things, the incredible closeness of death and an endless cold abyss of the universe, which stares at an astronaut. We have tried to convey and express the feelings that a person experiences at start of the machine and to the point where he can no longer distinguish the picture generated by his imagination from reality. The tranquility that ends the album in any case should not be understood as an obituary. It is rather a hymn of praise to the birth of a man who understood and took for himself a place that was defined for him by the universe.” Ltd x 500 copies in a clear clamshell case.

First Human Ferro – Corona Astralis CD [Ukrainian Dark Syndicate]
“Corona Astralis” is a consequential follow-up to the 2000 “Motherwards” CD and in the long run fundamentally represents development of the project, carefully combining early 1998-2001 death ambient / industrial experiments with recent ever generating solid electroacoustics, harsh electronica and dronesque synth multistructures, all to be ultimately finallized as integral one of the world in a grain of sand…
Inspired by one of the ever greatest examples of poetical mastery “Corona Astralis” by Maximilian Voloshyn (a classical representative of the so-called Silver Age of Russian poetry) this album accurarely deals with eternal ideas/values of a sand-grain man in a Pascalesque desert-like Universe.
Flatline Skyline – All Sound / No Vision CD [Mechanoise Labs]
The second album from Jacen Kemp and Robert Andrew Scott stands as a stylistic counter-statement to 2005′s “Horizon Grid.” Fierce, emotionally driven and abrasively textured, “All Sound / No Vision” confirms Flatline Skyline’s masterful sense of tension and release and melodic sensibility while further evolving their sound beyond any previous expectation.
Where “Horizon Grid” forged atmospheres of lethargic bliss and nocturnal stillness, these eleven new tracks are united by their restlessness and unstable nature. From the energetic vocals and metallic shard-like pulse of “Fox Fight” to the improvised noisy electronic shudders of “One Secret,” there is a new-found sense of visceral life that breathes, screams and seeps into every moment of this album. Jacen Kemp’s voice plays a prominent role in this aspect; its multi-faceted intonations are perfectly suited to the shifting electronic foundation.
“All Sound / No Vision” was mastered by JJ at Golden Mastering (Xiu Xiu, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Calexico, etc.) and was made possible by the generous help of Bertrand Hamonou.
Frank Rosaly – Centering and Displacement LP [Utech Records]
To manipulate a recording of the improvised process is to directly dilute spontaneous conception, and thank god for that.
Centering and Displacement was composed in the winter-summer of 2008 in Chicago.
A body of improvised source material was collected, segmented and organized by a simple chance operation. These segments were then orchestrated into a sound program and arranged by order of the strict composed form. At times, the score also regulated post-recorded effects to manipulate the original material. As the material was edited, it was divided into six separate channels (three stereo tracks). Each pair of channels was transferred to a cd and each was played on three cd players simultaneously, creating a simple six-channel sound installation. In 2011, the dense six-channel score was revised and reduced to two channels (one stereo track), which is now the final, preferred version.
The result is a centrifugal record filled with moments of surprise and complexity. Drums, percussion and electronics are at the core, revealing themselves with precision and radiant color. Frank Rosaly has created a piece that stands apart in the field of challenging music.
Art by Zachary Rossman.
Limited to 300 copies. Black vinyl. LP includes cd version of the album.
FRKSE – FRKSE C44 [ I Had an Accident Records ]
A joint release with Cooler Than Cucumbers (France) brings the heavy beatmaker noise machine FRKSE. Four track garbage drums, drone, and rosewater drone. Artwork by Albane. A brilliant masterpiece on the olive tape (c44). Limited to 250.
FRKSE – Remove LP [ Divergent Series ]
Many of the pieces on side one consist of looped scuzz and drum machine sequences, with bass as the lead instrument—although it never develops too much melodically, it’s an effective tool. Some ambient-ish electro elements are present, showing more subtlety on the first side. Combined with some more postmodern touches like intentionally off-kilter looped samples, the atmosphere is dark and chaotic, but things rarely threaten to boil over—the side flashes some anguished noise, but is actually rather light and contemplative overall.
Funerary Call – Dark Waters Stirred CD [ Fall of Nature ]
Heralded as one of the progenitors of black ambient music, Funerary Call returns from dormancy with his darkest release to date. “Dark Waters Stirred” is a ceremonial maelstrom of ominous electronics and dark ambient textures, an audial descent into ritualistic obscurity and misanthropy. Features guest appearances from the likes of Deathlord (Blasphemy, ex-Conqueror), and Troy Southgate (H.E.R.R., Seelenlicht) amongst others.
Funerary Call – Nightside Emenations CD [Malignant Records]
First created in 1994, Funerary Call has established itself as one of the premier purveyors of archaic black atmospheres. With Nightside Emanations, Funerary Call presents his most organic and purely ritual experiences…8 tracks that spiral into darkness, led by the ceremonial fire rite of the opening track, then descending into even blacker, more ominous realms as the CD progresses. Extended pieces of opaque ambience are augmented by slow, foreboding, tribal percussion and sedated vocal incantations, full of ancient mysticism and creeping
miasma. Material used in the recording process ranged from found objects such as rocks, scrap metal, antlers and bones, to an assortment of ritual implements; chimes, bells, gongs, rattles and kangling. The result is unequivocally one of the darkest releases you’ll find under the Malignant banner and one of the more focused and complete recordings from Funerary Call. In 4 panel DVD digipak with stunning artwork by renowned Russian artist Denis Forkas.

GM Electronics – Trashwalker CDR [Existence Establishment]
Trashwalker is a post-apocalyptic journey through waste strewn fields of radiated digital noise. GM Electronics presents a chaotic, multi textured, walk through, dark ruined streets littered with needles and debris, teaming with desperate characters seeking some sort of seedy appeasement. Originally recorded in 2004 and released in a limited edition first on I.N.K. Recordings, then once again re-released on Cyberblast Records. Now Existence Establishment once again revives this abandoned matter for yet another strictly limited run with all new artwork and packaging.
Gnaw Their Tongues – L’Arrivee de la Terne Mort Triomphante CD [Crucial Blast]
One of the extreme metal/industrial underground’s most unique bands, Gnaw Their Tongues arises again with a new album of majestic, orchestral death-terror called L’arrivée de la Terne Mort Triomphante, a series of five hymns to the death shroud, a celebration of dissolution. This Dutch one-man avant black/doom/industrial band is responsible for two of the most chilling albums of abstract heaviness to have been released in recent years (An Epiphanic Vomiting Of Blood and All The Grand Magnificence Of Perversity, both from Crucial Blast), but with this new full-length, Gnaw Their Tongues peels back additional layers of it’s bombastic horror to reveal moments of euphonic beauty more than we’ve heard on the previous albums.

Grunt – Long Lasting Happiness CD [Freak Animal]
This CD is not an album. although it could have been. Lets look back to mid 2000′s before “Seer Of Decay” album and many of these recordings are showing the direction taken on that album. Long Lasting Happeness session originally published as split tape with Prurient (Freak Animal) that has been out of stock for years. Two tracks. “Never Wake Up” and “Streets of Decadence” recorded around same time. basically belonging to same session of sounds. have remained unreleased for all these years. Waiting for one compilation to be out. which probably never will. Further 4 tracks are alternative version of “Street of Decadence”. which made it to Nihilistic Paraphilia 1. and thematically those releases belong to the same re-issue. “Caught (original version)” from same disc shows early version of raw PE style later adjusted further on split with Taint. “Paid Victims Of Modern World Fetishes” and “MaleClit” are songs only released in ltd to 50 copies Nihilistic Paraphialia vol. 2! “Nihilistic Paraphilia” compilations were Japanese tour releases made in tiny CDR editions sold in Grunt tours 2005 and 2008. Human Larvae – Home Is Where the Hurt Is CD [Existence Establishment]
Introducing the debut full-length of this new Dresden based heavy industrial/power electronics unit following his 3 inch CDR on Silken Tofu. Taking cues from styles as diverse as the cinematic Navicon Torture Technologies and grungy lo-fi …Today I’m Dead, Human Larvae delivers an emotional torrent of self-destructive force with “Home is Where the Hurt Is”. Spanning a running time of over an hour, styles range from rhythmic orchestral industrial to bleak passages of black noise with a good dosage of throbbing feedback and scathing vocals. There is some sick twisted narrative to be found here but the search for these mysterious happenings will bring you to places you may never return from.
Human Larvae – What Lies Ahead C45 [ Unrest Productions ]
A mans journey from loss of faith to self destruction. What Lies Ahead has a fullness and warmth to the sound, like a red tinted picture which gives a sensation of the path through his personal hell. Institution D.O.L. – Instructions for Modern Weakniks CD [ Steinklang Industries ]
“Instructions for modern Weakniks” is the opus magnum of the Austrian Obscure-Electronic act no.1. The album was recorded in co-operation with artists from projects like CONTROL, OPERATION CLEANSWEEP, A CHALLENGE OF HONOUR, RASTHOF DACHAU, WERTHAM and FUCKHEAD. This is a groundbreaking piece of Extreme Electronic Music with all facettes and at the same time a very entertaining and enjoyable piece of weird and sick Noise-Pop. The CD will be issued in digipack with booklet including a video.
IRM – The Cult of The Young Men CD [Annihilvs]
ANNIHILVS proudly presents our first proper CD release from IRM: THE CULT OF THE YOUNG MEN.
Returning with a singularly cold, desolate and lonely release, IRM continues to fervently espous irreligious, body-obsessed abstractions of the highest order. Departing from the aggressive PE outbursts of the past, the duo of Erik Jarl and Martin Bladh sculpt pulsating drones and powerfully dark sounds, as the bleeding wound of IRM continues to flower.
THE CULT OF THE YOUNG MEN contains ‘live’ tracks recorded in the studio, selections from live performances (including the APEX Fest), and a cover of JOY DIVISION’s ‘Here are the Young Men.’

Jarl – Fragile Confrontation CD [Annihilvs]
ANNIHILVS proudly presents FRAGILE CONFRONTATION, our second full length CD release by Swedish Darkambient sound sculptor JARL.
Since the release of the debut full length SEALED VOID in 2003, this brilliant artist (who has already shown his mettle as a member of IRM) has released albums for such noted labels as MALIGNANT RECORDS and SEGERHUVA.
Now, JARL has returned to ANNIHILVS as the label begins its rebirth.
FRAGILE CONFRONTATION finds JARL looking back into the sparse, cold isolationist landscapes of SEALED VOID, while instilling an undercurrent of impending violence, like a blade slowly moving toward flesh in tense, scraping frame-by-frame action.
Metallic drones and static waves slide against each other as the confrontation between steel and skin comes to a mind-numbing collision.

Kapotte Muziek – Praag/Rotterdam CD [ Chondritic Sound/PACrec ]
“The two live performances on this disc portray the sound of a microphone passing through antimatter – the haunting atmosphere of a slow drone, a glimpse of captured transmissions, the grinding crackle and crunch of a machine eating itself alive only to finally collapse in a sea of manipulated feedback ripe with wooden electronics running low on batteries.. Recorded in ’95 and ’98, these two pieces both feature the line-up of Roel Meelkop, Peter Duimelinks & Frans de Waard. Co-released with Chondritic Sound.” – Troniks.
Kevin Drumm – Imperial Horizon CD [Hospital Productions]
Imperial Horizon by Kevin Drumm is a further examination into sustained tone as most recently heard on his previous Hospital Productions benchmark album, Imperial Distortion, stretching out minimalism to unreached heights of serene ambient.lulling electronic drones slowly transform over the course of the hour plus piece in constant flux, echoing both an existential terror and Zen calm. mutations grow so quietly only the body opens to identify this change while the mind closes.
the ephemeral and seeming lightness of the tones hang with taut balance in contrast to the method in which they are overlapped and rotated with deadly weight.
How wildly divergent emotions rise, hover, and fall using so little is a mystery that only Kevin Drumm can provide. While you may not find an answer, you can certainly get lost in the question.
Kintaan/Vagimas – Split C? [ Self Released ]

Knurl – Thiocarbamide CD [Phage Tapes]
I’m very happy to announce the newest release by the Canadian harsh noise master Knurl. Knurl has a massive back catalogue of intense metal abuse inspired releases. This release is no exception. The four tracks equal roughly 51 minutes of brain melting noise for all you harsh heads out there.
Koufar – The Purity of the Cedars [ Topheth Prophet ]
Topheth Prophet is proud to present the latest from Maronite Resistance unit KOUFAR. 7 tracks assault on current Lebanese state unleashed with genuine brute anger. Middle East politics were never that harsh!
Kristoffer Nystroms Orkester – Overlook Hotel CD [Malignant Records]
Overlook Hotel heralds the return of the mighty KNO, the collaborative project between Swedish industrial legend Peter Nystrom (Megaptera, Negru Voda), and Norwegian up and comer Kristoffer Oustad (V:28, Plague Machinery). 5 years after the highly acclaimed brakeHEAD CD, KNO welcomes you into the Overlook Hotel, where every room has a ghost, and every room has a story to tell. Travel the hallways and explore, as you venture into a more cerebral musical state than what brakeHEAD offered, where ghostly transmissions and hypnotic layers of surreal, ethereal atmospheres intersect with disembodied voices, clattering, furnace blasting percussion, and of course, healthy injections of true, old fashioned industrial noise and sweeping doom, done in the best Scandinavian style (imagine if Deutsch Nepal had continued in the same path laid down by Benevolence and you start to get the idea). The pacing of the album is truly impeccable, flowing seamlessly from to track, as if moving from room to room in a hazy, dream state, the layering and cohesiveness on a whole nothing short of meticulous. In 6 panel digipak.
“…raises the bar for all other projects in the fields [of] Death Industrial, Dark Ambient noise” … “sounds apocalyptic in perfection – a real highlight of Malignant..” Black Magazin
As a whole, this is one of the better albums I have heard this year and a great find for those who enjoy industrial/ambient. 9/10 Connexion Bizarre
“…my absolute recommendation! … To my ears a must!” Kulturterrorismus
Lackthrow – Release 2xCDR [Existence Establishment]
Lackthrow is a name most unknown to noise fans of today but Andrew Powell has been active and creating noise under several different guises – twit/ch, Internal Empty, A Hymn For Her – since 1990. The project has been alive and hyperactive for many years and time has seen it take many forms from experimental surrealism, or harsh Masonna-influenced cut up noise, to power electronics and back again. Even spanning into weird ambience, synth-pop and cybergrind influences.
With Lackthrow’s Release Existence Establishment strives to present a cohesive collection of works from this underrated artist re-releasing a wealth of material, with the bulk of it having never formally seen the light of day before. Release is a 2 disc set spanning the outer reaches of sound, emotional noise, temper tantrums on tape, carefully edited blasts of noise, unadulterated improvisations, and enigmatic avant garde outings which are evidence of the spasms of an artist always on the edge yet never in the limelight and always searching for something unknown. Featuring material recorded between 1997 and 2009.

Lavas Magmas – Acts of Worship CDR+DVDR [Existence Establishment]
Lavas Magmas is the project of Luis Gonzalez hailing from Portland, Oregon. After touring with Regosphere and specializing in sound and video projects it was decided to release a DVDR/CDR release on Existence Establishment. Lavas Magmas creates industrial ambience with a precision that is rarely heard from artists today. Pulsating oscillations collide with unearthly scrap metal improvisations and ghostly drones to form a thick tapestry of otherwordly brilliance.
Accompanying the CDR is a DVDR mind-altering video/audio experience that utilizes convergence of saturated, vivid source material and manipulations which portray a plethora of visuals complete with field recordings, news footage, and rare videos all set to the intense sounds that Gonzalez is quickly becoming known for.
Lavas Magmas – Dark Mantle C34 [Dumpsterscore Home Recordings]
Lavas Magmas is the project of Luis Gonzalez from Portland, Oregon. Many of you probably caught him on his insane national tour in 2010 when he played over 40 states during the Summer, combining his unique industrial meets psychedelic drone style with intense video collages. These recordings came out of the aftermath of that tour and are very similar to what he was laying down on the road. Bubbly Moog synths lay the foundation for gritty guitars, hypnotic tape loops and plenty of junk metal clatter. In a way you can hear the nomadic influence pretty clearly here, moving down the road with something new always on the horizon, sometimes bleak but sometimes hopeful. Luis has really mastered combining deep drone experiences with forlorn industrial atmospheres and this tape really exemplifies all of the hard work and singular vision that he puts into his work.
High quality cassettes, with full color covers and wrap around strip in a crystal poly case. Artwork by Lavas Magmas. Limited to 100 hand numbered copies.
Law – The Black Lodge CD [Nuit Et Bruillard]
Third CD by this great american artist, after a tape, two vinyl releases and several compilation tracks. Here you’ll find again what the so typical Law’ sound is made of. Oppressing, frightening and chilling atmospheres, nightmarish samples, distorded guitars and vocals melting into subtle soundscapes full of latent violence as sharp as a razor blade… Yet a slight evolution in the sound is to be noticed. “The Black Lodge” includes more vocals and some orchestral parts. This will be the final full length collection of new material by LAW. The CD conveys the sense of struggling through the shadows of an inescapable nighmare. The audio is housed in a special fold-out “cross” package featuring full colour images captured and designed by the artist).Limited ed 500.
Lethe – Nowhere CD [A5 Production]

Lid Emba & Bobcrane – We Substitute Radiance CD [Stickfigure Records]
Sean Moore, Lid Emba’s auteur, is based in Atlanta, GA, while Ryan Huber, Bobcrane’s creator, lives in Bloomington, IN. Sparked by a common association with Stickfigure Records and hearing each others’ tracks on MySpace, Sean and Ryan began collaborating. Sustained by constant e-mail dialogue and fueled by snail-mailing sound files back and forth, they managed to construct six tracks of psychotropic headphone food despite having different hardware-software setups and being separated by over 500 miles. Megaton mastered by James Plotkin, We Substitute Radiance coherently balances and blends Lid Emba’s unorthodox swirl of deranged metrics and texture with Bobcrane’s dronescape meets boom box aesthetic, resulting in a hook inflected collection of art damaged and benevolently demented musique electronique.

Luasa Raelon – Into the Void CDR [Crucial Bliss]
Finally, after a pronounced delay, we’re presenting the latest in grim, Cthulhian ambient death from David Reed, the man behind the Snip-Snip CD-R label and the ice-drones of Envenomist. With Luasa Raelon, Reed uses deep-frozen synthesizers and electronics to construct pitch-black sonic sculptures that evoke lost cities carved from obsidian whose masterless machines have been left to grind on into eternity, or descents into stygian pits whose bottoms cannot be gauged. Into The Void is the newest masterwork from Reed, recorded in 2006 and presented here as a five-chapter narrative that chronicles a doomed space exploration, where all that is left are the faint transmissions of apocalyptic dread drifting back at us through time. Beyond ominous, and gorgeously eerie, Reed continues to craft some of the blackest, heaviest drift this side of Gruntsplatter, Troum, Lull, Yen Pox, Melek-Tha, Lustmord, and Megaptera. Into The Void has been released in an edition of 200 copies, packaged in the signature Crucial Bliss foldover sleeve with the disc attached to the interior on a plastic hub, and featuring some of our best Bliss artwork yet, which David described as looking like 70′s science-fiction art.
Lys – Klaida ir Užuojauta C40 [Terror]
First release of Lithuanian drone/ambient/noise maestro that has been not self-released. Watching his constantly improving live performances, it would be simply a mistake without compassion not to ask him to make an album for the label. And for me it truly seems the creation of a master. Precisely composed drone passages, merging with walls of noise. 40 minutes. The album title translates as Mistake and Compassion.

Maculatum – The Nameless City CD [Malignant Records]
The Nameless City is the debut of Maculatum, the much anticipated collaborative project of Malignant dark ambient stalwarts Collapsar and Rasalhague. 6 tracks of visionary and cinematic black ambience based on Lovecraftian mythology, populated by unseen cosmic horrors and shapeless forms. The sound here is vast and luminous, and yet simultaneously menacing and oppressive…swirls of sprawling drones infused with ethereal murk and a steady stream of richly textured percussion, cavernous creaks, terrifying rituals, and heavily reverbed, ghostly vocalizations that arise from deep within the jungle and ruins of an ancient civilization. This is exactly what you want in a collaboration such as this…the best aspects of both Collapsar and Rasalhague brought together, without sounding derivative of either project. Limited to just 500 copies, in slim, fold out eco-wallet, this is of course a must for all those that appreciate dark ambience that goes beyond the realms of the ordinary.
“One colossal mass of rich cinematic, inky black ambience…the combined forces of both acts together produce something that is ultimately a beast in its own form, one approach complimenting the other with impressive results.” 8.5/10 Black Audio
“Dark ambient fans are going to devour The Nameless City with an unearthly hunger. Even casual dark listeners will find a lot to get lost in. In the midnight-hued density there is movement and sensation; there is a story at work, and it’s compelling”. Hypnagogue
9/10 Necroweb.de
“The album of Maculatum is fully accomplished and I dare to say a masterpiece of contemporary dark-ambient.” Side-Line
“…it’s hard to believe that this album won’t be considered a classic years from now.” Heathen Harvest
Maison Close – Maison Close CD [Nuit et Brouillard]

Marax – My Suicide Note Penned in Sound CD [Sensitive Receptor]
Sensitive Receptor’s first release is out! I want to thank Eric Crowe for contributing his talents as an artist to the first release on this label. It clocks in at 1 hour and 20 seconds, so be sure to eat a meal plus dessert while listening to this…something heavy like German Chocolate Cake and not just a slice, but the whole thing.
Martin Bladh – Study for a Theater of Cruelty CD [Annihilvs]
This is the long-delayed and anticipated solo release by the genius frontman of Swedish industrial legends IRM.
Aktionist, provocateur, visionary: Martin Bladh has composed an eerie score for impossible performance art, incorporating sparse, stringed drones and chilling atmospheres similar to Bladh’s work with performance artist Bo I.
Mattias Gustafsson – Dod Metall 3″CDR [Husk Records]
Mattias Gustafsson has been turning heads with his amazing cassettes,a 7″ single, and a recent split Lp with Sewer Election on Release the Bats via Altar of Flies for a few years now.Using his own name,he stretches toward the void with a deeper, more personal, and in my opinion more realized sound with Dod Metall. This is a re-issue of a now out of print cassette that was available mainly in Sweden with little exposure to the world, until now.Full color artwork with cover art by Josh Lay.Edition of 50 hand numbered copies.
Megaptera – Straing Back At You CD [Malignant Records]
A final celebration of Megaptera’s 15 year anniversary, Malignant presentsthe definitive last statement from this prominent and highly influential death industrial project. Staring Back At You concentrates on demo versions, outtakes, and rare songs from various arenas, including the compilations Zyklon B, Beating the Meat, Slaughter Age ’95, The Book ov Shadowz, Death OdorsII, as well as material from the Deep Inside mLP, and more. These tracks capture Megaptera at their grittiest, creepiest, and most horrifying…a grinding, lurching monstrosity fueled by the madness, violence, lies, wars, and diseasethat plague the world. Lmtd to 800 copies, and coming in a 6 panel digipakdesigned by Mårten Kellerman, this has been re-mastered by Magnus Sundstrom, with additional boosting courtesy of Thomas Garrison. Staring Back At You is the final nail in the coffin for Megaptera, and may they rest in peace, but continue to deliver nightmares, maddening thoughts, and the darkest ofobsessions.

What comes out is hypnotic and meditative soundscapes.
Over the years Moljebka Pvlse has performed live in Canada, Finland, France, The Netherlands, Slovenia, Sweden and the U.S. Mathias has, mainly as Moljebka Pvlse, released several albums on many different labels, such as Cold Meat Industry, Eibon Records and his own Isoramara label.
Some Place Else is proud to release the new album by Moljebka Pvlse, entitled Sadalsuud. For this album, Mathias collaborated with a number of his colleagues who provided him various source sounds to work with.
The name Sadalsuud refers to a star of the same name in the constellation of Aquarius. The name comes from an Arabic phrase meaning “the luckiest of them all”. Nevertheless the album is rather earthy-sounding, yet mystical and surreal, almost claustrophobic at times. The sound is vaguely reminiscent of some works by Nurse With Wound, Maeror Tri or The Hafler Trio, but carries the trademark Moljebka Pvlse feel. An unsuspecting pre-listener described Sadalsuud as “a visit to a supposedly haunted house, though only once you’ve entered the house you begin to grasp the real meaning of haunting.”
Sadalsuud is released by Some Place Else on CD in digipak, with photos by Mathias Josefson and design by Niko Skorpio. Limited edition of 500 copies.
Mortuor – I’m Waiting For You CDR [Syzmic Records]
Obsessed Italian influenced death industrial/power electronics. Themes of stalking, misogyny, hospital horrors and murder. For fans of such depraved acts as Atrax Morgue, N. or …Today I’m Dead.
Murderous Vision & Fascist Insect – Primordial Beings From Dimensions Unknown LP [Live Bait Recording Foundation]
A pitch-black melding of pure Cleveland extreme industrial and experimental metal filth! Across two sides, veteran death industrial act Murderous Vision and grindcore / psychedelic noisecore outfit Fascist Insect collaborate on four nasty tracks that meld walls of dark synths and processed guitars with outbursts of bleak primitive metal. Packaged with a pro-printed jacket and full lyrics insert and hand-numbered in human blood. Grim.
Murderous Vision – Ghosts of the Soul Long Lost 2xCD [Live Bait Recording Foundation]
Murderous Vision is the long standing act of Live Bait Recording Foundation and all around “dark noise” veteran Stephen Petrus. After 10 years he has collected many tracks culled from splits, compilations, and a plethora of other sources into this double CD package that sports sounds and styles as varied as the years covered here.
The first disc consists of earlier material mostly recorded after the 2k mark. It also is in general a bit more ambient in nature, though I wouldn’t call this completely ambient, as it’s not really droney. I might call this industrial, or ambient noise but Murderous Vision is a genre bender, one track could be synthy neo-classical and the next could be power electronics. The variation in the works really help move the album forward and provide for, at the very least a listen that keeps presenting new and interesting textures.
Nekros Manteia – Deus Otiosus CD [ Fall of Nature ]
With ‘Deus Otiosus’, Nekros Manteia present obscure and brooding layers of texture. Rusty coils of aural depravity act as a catalyst to self-reflection and lucid contemplation. This work seeks to confront the listener with ill-concocted hymns of lament. “Deus Otiosus; Leave the universe, let stars devour abominable life!
Niente – Niente CDR [Heretic Recordings]
One guitar, one bass, one mixer, some pedals and so much desire to do nothing.
Nordvargr – Pyrrhula CD [Cold Spring]
Partly based on an old Swedish folktale, Pyrrhula (“doomlord”) is a pitch black journey into utter darkness. This is a tale of foreboding doom… a portent of dark times to come… a blight on the face of this earth. These eight Black Ambient / Doom / Droneworks were brought forth from the abyss of Villa Bohult exclusively for Cold Spring and contain the malevolent vocals of Lord Nordvargr himself!. “Beware the small creatures of light, they only bring misery and death upon the enlightened ones. For they will paint their breast with blood and reap your unborn angels.”
Novemthree – From These Ashes 7″ [Midnight Productions]
Calm neo-folk centering around guitar but also featuring penny whistle, vocals, frame drum, harmonium, and bodhran. These are a translucent green vinyl and the jackets are offset printed on a heavy recycled textured paper and then lovingly sewn together. A gorgeous release and must for any fan of neo-folk.
Nyodene D – Edenfall CD [Malignant Records]
Founded in 2008, Nyodene D has quickly risen in the ranks to become one of America’s premier death industrial/power electronics acts. Each release shows Nyodene D becoming stronger and stronger, capturing the essence of the true old school aesthetic, yet taking it to new realms of intensity and physicality.
The 6 tracks on Edenfall are rife with the threat of violence… harrowing, yet majestic in its scope, with scraps of heaving scrap metal and searing tones intersecting with walls of thick, corrosive synth noise and defiant vocals. What separates this from the pack though is its sense of composition and structure, even as it ratchets up into near impossible levels of ferocity, the sounds barely contained as they reach a fevered pitch. Tracks like Nihilation and Borne On Vulture’s Beak show the roots of some of Aaron’s influences, moving into a more unsettling, restrained style of European power electronics, channeling Ex.Order and IRM, with a slower, more surreptitious attack. As a whole, this has to be considered one of the more essential heavy electronic releases ever released under the Malignant banner.
Features appearances by Shift, Sky Burial, and Rope of American war metal band Prosanctus Inferi and supreme death metal band Father Befouled. Comes in a full color digipak with lyrics and booklet, with photographs from Stephen Petrus and layout and design courtesy of Andre Coelho of Sektor 304.
In the coming weeks, this will also be available as a special, limited edition 200 foil printed microboard boxset featuring a second disc of collaborative tracks between Nyodene D and Portugal’s Sektor 304. You can choose to buy Edenfall by itself at this point, and then buy the boxset at a discounted rate once it becomes available.
“‘Edenfall’ is easily a pinnacle release of 2012 and highlights the current supremacy of Nyodene D and more broadly the American PE scene.” Noise Receptor.
Ogogo – Linden CD [III Records]
Album of the music by Igor based on the paintings of Ron Linden. Igor is one of the most diverse musician/composer in modern music.
Looking at the interrelationship of Classical Avant-Garde and Jazz, or Experimental Rock music, or improvising live with Japanese Sitar(!) player Riko Tanaka, Igor methodically explored borders of musical styles and interconnections of various art forms.
In OGOGO-Linden album, Igor creates musical impressions of Ron Linden’s paintings preserving the original titles of the works(Mussorgsky’s Pictures At The Exhibition comes to mind), and also adding his own, darker, twist in combining Eroscope and Eye Spring into one work(apparently Charles Ives’ influence), and remaking Pidgin to fit compilation request from TRX Records(Aphex Twin stirred).
The outcome is approximating an acid trip, even the strangest one, like one to Saturn to meet Sun Ra. Album recorded and mixed at Peacock Studio, Los Angeles. Comes with 16 page booklet of reproductions of original paintings.
[ Sample 1 ]
Olekranon – Cohesion CD [Self Released]
Olekranon is a one-man project of Ryan Hurst from Korperschwache. Best described as ambient drone with a consistent back beat. Would likely appeal to fans of Steve Reich, Neu!, Future Sound Of London, Brian Eno, Boards Of Canada and most open-minded fans of the experimental genre.
Onehitrix Point Never/Rene Hell – Split LP [NNA Tapes]
NNA’s second split LP unites two American artists on the cutting edge of experimental electronic music: Brooklyn’s Oneohtrix Point Never and Los Angeles’ Rene Hell. Daniel Lopatin and Jeff Witscher have each been working tirelessly in the US underground for the last several years, releasing progressive, forward-thinking, and highly acclaimed music under a wide variety of guises and manifestations. In 2012, we see them each offering their respective unique visions and interpretations of digital music in the modern world, processing the world around us through the lens of technology and modern sound.
Oneohtrix Point Never brings us “Music For Reliquary House”, which consists of sonic reworkings from the “Reliquary House” audio/visual installation, a collaboration between Lopatin and video artist Nate Boyce. In a series of five pieces, Lopatin delivers a sequence of hallucinatory informatic assaults, a satirical re-envisioning of modernist sculpture. Picking up where 2011′s “Replica” left off, OPN uses digital technology to dissect human speech patterns and timbres almost beyond recognition. Via computer, Lopatin converts pieces of text to human speech, only to dismantle it entirely, surgically reassembling the scraps of frequencies and the shrapnel of pure sound into something new altogether… starkly melodic at times, but altogether harsh and inhuman as a whole.
Rene Hell presents “In 1980 I Was A Blue Square”, a suite of five pieces for piano, synthesizer, and computer. Juxtaposing mid 20th century classical music with chaotic electronic blasts, Witscher creates his own style of contemporary music that is peaceful and violent on top of itself, creating a rift of confusion that sits nicely between more vast, soundscape-like vignettes. Witscher’s previous forays into the worlds of noise and ambient are tastefully apparent here, indicative of an artist who is able to retain a broad array of influences and use them in a way that is both personal and original.
Mastered and cut by Lupo at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin.
Oorchach – Vigilia C30 [Terror]
Oorchach, at least in Lithuania, has become a synonim for ritualistic tape loops and giddy journeys to the depth. Dry lips, constructing verses. Birds, screaming behind the window. Your wish to fly away is trong, but you remain here, holding the moment of vigilance. This tape must be listened to and to written about. 30 minutes.
Pacing – Pacing & Friends CDR [Self Released]
Each track is a collaboration with a different vocalist. All noise produced, recorded and mixed by Pacing. Existence Establishment review.
Penetration Camp/Page 27 – Blood and Black Vinyl 7″ [Drug-Front Productions]
Ambient noise, A strong amalgamation of sounds and a more coherent ebb and flow are evident. A nice mix of muddled samples and screeching machines all backed by a thick drone. Enigmatic artists.
Penetration Camp/Slicing Grandpa – Four Flies on Grey Vinyl 7″ [ Drug-Front Productions/Strain Theory/Scatological Liberation Front ]
Limited Edition of 313 on grey vinyl and hand numbered in blood. Industrial and strange experimentalism.
Per Aspera – Nil Desperandum CD [New Nihilism]
The third and the most complete release by one of the most tallented ambient artists hailing from Poland these days. Unifying vast array of elements, Per Aspera once again achieves remarkably introvert but vibrant style.
Eerie industrial atmosphere seamlessly blends with serene harmonies of almost orchestral form. Cinematic, monstrous drone formations morph into pulsating abyss of dissonant disturbances and uncompromised sonic experiments, overlaid by subtle beauty of human voice and minimalist acoustic instrumentation.
All those skillful, multiformal explorations establish Nil desperandum one of those albums of complex yet stable musical concept—reflecting the incoherencies of human nature and its immanent affection to chaos and order merged together. Per Aspera tends to render tragically compound heritage of the mankind, being constantly shaped by cultural, ethnic and religious or ideologic discrepancies.
Definitely not your average dark–ambient buzz, this album stands out of the dull cliche. The sound may appeal to the admirers of T. Köner, Parca Pace, Nocturnal Emissions or Neubautens to name a few but still, expect no pattern follower.
Complemented with special A5–sized glossy digipak designed by Ibsen studio, this CD is limited to 500 copies only.
Peter J Woods – Afterthought 3″CDR [FTAM]
Emotional power electronics/experimental from this diehard Milwaukee artist. Mellow drones mix with harsh blasts of noise, whispered, screamed and sung vocals. Inlcudes a Slogun cover.
Phragments – Earth Shall Not Cover Their Blood CD [Malignant Records]
You’ve seen it before. Certain bands or artists delivering their finest work with their first recording. Then, in futile attempts to capture some of the same magic, becoming formulaic and stale, rehashing ideas and never really achieving the same caliber of work. Others, expanding on the elements of their prior releases, and through a natural maturation process, get stronger with each release. That would certainly be the case with Phragments. With their third full length studio CD, this Slovakian duo have made remarkable strides not only in quality but in scope. Equipped with an enriched sonic palate, Earth Shall Not Cover Their Blood mixes forceful brass and dark orchestral strings with rolls of powerful tribal percussion, somber wind instrumentation, ominous atmospheres, industrial clangor, and a strong and commanding vocal presence, particularly on tracks like “Over Deadlands” and “The Kin of Cain”. Cohesive, complete, and epic, this is a release that will open some eyes to new found authority of Phragments. Yours to discover. In 6 panel digipak..

Pollutive Static – Turn on The Fuck Soundtrack C44 [Nil By Mouth]
Louisiana Cajun recordings creeping through raw smut, gut ripping analogue synthesizers, intercepted radio transmissions, violent orgasmic howling, undulating loops of deep-penetration pedal feedback and distorted pig squealing. Another brutal and colourful wall of noise from this UK project. Special package.
Positive Adjustments – The Mollala Tapes CDR [ Murderabilia Records]
The Molalla Tapes is the first release of the Swedish power electronics project Positive Adjustments, run by Krister Bergman (Demons that Drove).
The work is based on the true crime case of “the Molalla Forest Killer” Dayton Leroy Rogers.
The work is divided in five parts (for a total of 13 tracks). Every part has a specific and different atmosphere, with an accurate experimentations of different kinds of power electronics sounds, from the harsher sounds to the more introspective and obscure ones. Highly recommended to the true lovers of power electronics!
Pro-printed cdr, limited to 40 copies, is housed in a mini dvd case and it comes in a plastic transparent envelope with six images of the victims “buried” in land and tied with a black or white ribbon.

Propergol – GPWS CD [Annihilvs]
ANNIHILVS is proud to present, in association with STRIDULUM RECORDINGS, the newest epic addition to French electronic sound terrorist PROPERGOL’s impressive discography, GROUND PROXIMITY WARNING SYSTEM.
More than two years in the making, GROUND PROXIMITY WARNING SYSTEM represents a mammoth undertaking of research and sampling. Focussing solely on the theme of airline disasters. and featuring a more densely somber, ultra-dark ambience than prior albums, this is a recording which will chill the listener to the bone.
The fear is palpable, the panic is imminent, and the ground is rushing up all too quickly.
Brace yourselves for impact, this is by far PROPERGOL’s finest release to date. “You’ll never fly again.”
Protoplasmic Reversion – Sunken Temples CDR [Reverse Alignment]
Dark and sometimes peaceful ambient/drone with touches of Lustmord and Molkebka Pvlse with compositions that contain multi dimensional layers of minimalist ambient, growing into grotesque lulling drones. Slow swelling sound of babbling waves touching the cold beach. Thick layers of drones making a subliminal melody appear. An echoing rumble is making you aware of danger coming from deep beneath the endless surface of the ocean.
Prurient – Fossil CD [ Truculent Recordings ]
Fossil is a landmark recording for Prurient and forever changed the MO of the project due to nearly half a year of preparation and the unusual circumstances this event was recorded in the Candle Factory (RIP) in Olneyville, Rhode Island at damaging volume for over two hours, in temperatures below freezing (recorded February 14th), with minimal shrine like lighting, and an orchestration of multiple parties from varied backgrounds including guests: Ben Barnett of Dropdead (guitar, vocals) Bryan Gilroy of Viodre (electronics, percussion), Jeff Plummer of Immaculate: Grotesque (synthesizer), Kris Lapke of Louder than Life (vocals, percussion), and Emily Aalvatierra of Football Rabbit (vocals, percussion).
Prurient – The Black Post Society CD [Cold Spring]
“The Black Post Society” embraces and accepts the depression of not having anything left to hunt. The mask without a face to hold. The depression of the hunter after the deer is killed. It is better to be hungry than to have eaten. As fantasy shatters under the whip of reality, erotic malaise settles in the nest of the mind inverting this dormant fuel to rekindle the endless cycle of sexual chaos. Black Industrial / Power Noise from this highly respected US act!

Pulse Emitter – Meditative Music 4 CDR [Self Released]
Out of print. Descending tones symbolize brain waves slowing down, delays tuned to theta and delta frequencies, designed for sleep but good for any calm time, dark but restful. i sleep with this all the time now, and often barely make it past the 10 minute point before i’m out. a full hour on CDr, months in the making. “sleep. recorded with synthesizers and Lexicon PCM 80.”
Regosphere – Psychic Surgery CDR [Darker Days Ahead]
Here is the studio version of Regosphere’s January tour material “Psychic Surgery”, along with 8 remixes by various noise artists including Don Haugen, Zboratore, Vexations, Xiphoid Dementia, Cory Schumacher, Content Nullity, Travis Johnson and Chefkirk. Each remix is unique to the artists style.
Regosphere/Extraordinary Pigeons – Split C30
This tape is a split with Regosphere. We first met Regosphere while on tour back in 2007, when he was called Suburbia Melting. We played a show with him in Eugene, and have kept up over the years, trading tapes and whatnot. Eventually we decided to do this split. Our half is some pretty warped acoustic stuff, which is pretty mellow when compared to Regosphere’s harsher analog noise on the other side, but it is a nice juxtaposition and we think it makes for a good listen.
Requisitio Sensus Aeternum – The Only One Is Dead, Who… CD [A5 Production]
Russian melodic dark ambient. Obscure and esoteric, dreary and forlorn. In DVD box.
Retribution Body – s/t CDR [Self Released]
Minimalist yet detailed modular synthesizer ambient reminding me very much of Pulse Emitter. Subtle works form mantra-like electronic chants that rattle the brain and vibrate the inner organs. Release is housed in a heavy cardboard digipak with silver and black silk screened artwork.
Rice Corpse – Mrs. Rice CD [DualPLover]
What kind of government would send a lunatic artist, whose idea of self expression is smashing amplified glass against his face, off to China to become a cultural ambassador? Australia the lucky country of coarse! That’s exactly what happened to Lucas Abela (Justice Yeldham) and this album, Mrs Rice is it’s result. With under two months in Beijing he formed the pick up band Rice Corpse, (named after the Chinese character for shit, which itself is the combination of the two characters for corpse and rice), jammed with them four times (two off which were recorded for this album) before heading off for a ten city tour of China.
A Trio of glass, drums and piano was in Lucas’s minds ear when he arrived and two completely different musicians came forward to form this unlikely band. First to be recruited for drums was Yang Yang whose antics in his own band Mafeisan has given him the reputation of being the craziest exponent of the normally conservative Beijing scene. His ultra loud out and proud personality is in stark contrast to the mild mannered and brutally shy saxophonist Li Zenghui who came to the project as pianist, cause simply put there were no suitable pianists in the city.
Existing for a limited time and without a common language to interrupt they managed to create these six varied and strangely focused improvisations. This despondent attempt at musicality is by far Abela’s most accessible work to date as the addition of Yang and Li’s stabbing rhythm section forced the seasoned noisician to take his glass instrument into surprising new directions. Released on conjunction with SUBJAM and made possible with the kind assistance of Asialink and the Australia Council for the Arts.
Roach Clip – ‘Al’ Pastor 7″ [Nostilevo]
music for blown-out punk fiends that minds the gap between rotten psychedelia and acid dirt rock. originally released as a “private press” cassette in an edition of six copies. this 7″ is available in a pressing of 212 copies; 100 copies on Nostilevo, + special edition of 21 copies including two additional cassettes in a dirty 7″ reel box with alternate artwork.
Roto Visage – Where The Mandrakes Grow CD [ Autumn Wind Productions ]
“Where the Mandrakes Grow” is conceptualized around autoerotic asphyxiation, forming an abstract narrative into a singular autoerotic experience. A singular moment in flux within the body. The sound compositions consist of consciousness cut ups – flashes of memory and anomalies of the moment interweaving.
Dark drone and experimental ambience.
Sanctimonious – Hypocritical Sages C24 [Nil By Mouth]
Feedback power electronics and filthy sounds inspired by hypocritical religions. 100 copies limited edition in cardboard box with poster.
Satori – Live In Salzburg CD [ Steinklang Industries ]
The start of our new old SK7 will begin with a long acting project from England. I talk about Satori. This is the live recording from their concert in Salzburg on 10.1.2008. One day before the big Steinklang Shop opening in Salzburg. One hour of dark rumbling Ambient and Industrial sounds, we know so well from Satori. A real great piece in the history of this band.
Sektion B – Power Is Nothing Without Control LP [ Steinklang Industries ]
Finally available this brilliant live album in a perfectly remastered and re-edited form! typical aggressive SEKTION B Power-Electronics with hard-screaming voices and pulsating drones. perfect live-recording from their 4th concert in Berlin 2001, taken place a few days before 11th september!
Sektor304 – Subliminal Actions CD [Malignant Records]
The follow-up to the highly acclaimed Soul Cleansing CD finds Portugals Sektor 304 expanding on all aspects of their debut, once again channeling the essence of the old school guardians (Test Dept, SPK, Crash Worship), while simultaneously exploring new, uncharted territory.
Comparatively speaking, Subliminal Actions is a more complete and focused album, with an even better flow than Soul Cleansing and more attention paid to detail, unleashing a cacophonic whirlwind of buzz saw grind, loops, power tools, and scraping, junk metal debris, clashing head on with exertive tribal percussion, clanging oil barrel rhythms, and industrial clamor resonating over a sprawling, post- apocalyptic wasteland. Some tracks, such as the opener, “A Carving on Metallic Flesh”, heap on the scorching noise, while others, such as the resounding, rhythmic driven “By The Throat”, “A Vessel of Guilt”, or “Vultures” are delivered with factory-line precision, laced with grimy layers of bass-heavy dirge, bleak, reverbed squall, and distortion filled, atmospheric drone. Among the many highlights, is the albums closer, “A Prismatic Sun”, a 10 + minute epic excursion into a nightmarish world, populated by whispered vocals and uneasy drift that slowly rises and grows in intensity, climaxing into a blissfully dark and sweaty orgy of low slung bass, ominous, ceremonial drumming, and suffocating darkness.
Subliminal Action not only compliments Soul Cleansing, but takes the Sektor 304 sound to new heights, delivering yet striking record sure to solidify their standing as one of premier, truly industrial acts in operation today.
10 tracks, totaling 63 minutes, in 6 panel digipak, mastered by James Plotkin.
“If ever all hope was lost in the industrial genre – despair not, as it should be fully renewed after a journey to the metallic wasteland hell that is Subliminal Actions. With influence clearly rooted in the works of the early industrial masters like Test Dept, Einstürzende Neubauten, and SPK, Sektor 304 take this confrontational sound to new depths of depravity.” 5/5 Heathen Harvest
“…We’re possibly looking [at] the best industrial album of 2012, easily” Special Interests # 7

Shift – Bulk CD [Silken Tofu]
SHIFT with the usual dynamics removed. Or as one Unrest employee described it: “Like planets burning down or the day ten million tons of filthy black shit rained down on the heads of a beaten species”. A co-release between Unrest Productions and Silken Tofu in an edition of 350.
Shift – Sleep Paralysis CD [Freak Animal Productions]
Re-issue of the tape done by Freak Animal not so long ago. Simply landmark in Shifts discography. Heaviness, slowness, heavily processed vocals, deep throbbing synths… Somewhere between power electronics, death industrial, heavy drone, not fitting exactly to the easy sub-genres, but suitable for anyone appreciating dark and heavy electronics. Full color covers in jewelbox.
Single Indian Tear – The Black Category 3″CDR [Self Released]
The Black Category is one 11 minute track of synth music ranging from droning textures, simple enduring melodies, and converging pads. It’s slow and this is most definitely synthesizer music not falling into stylized genres like new age, electronica, or ambient. It’s all three of those, yet not those either. Almost a pseudo academic edge to it but it certainly does paint an atmosphere that does evoke thought and inspiration at moments.
Sistrenatus – Sensitive Disturbance CD [Cold Spring]
Blurring the lines between Dark Ambient, Industrial and Noise, Sistrenatus storms forth, shifting between oppressive aggression and unsettling atmospheres. “Sensitive Disturbance” is the third offering from this now legendary Canadian act, whose debut “Division One” was issued on Cold Spring in 2007. An aural journey through the urban decay of abandoned factories, scorched landscapes and underground passageways. “Sensitive Disturbance” is an abrasive rendition of the industrial revolution in its darkest phases.
[ Sample 1 ]
Skin Graft/Deterge – Neglectronic LP [Fusty Cunt]
Fusty Cunt is proud to announce it’s first LP after 12 years running. A bit of a roll reversal on this one. Skin Graft opens up with its trademark scum atmosphere, yet here there is a much more defined power electronic feel. Through 3 tracks, you begin understanding the deep seeded theme of child neglect. Very slow and passive HNPE. Deterge throws the cut-up noise and overly effected vocals that most are used to out the window for this side long track. Heavy industrial with constant mixing of low and high end sounds. Brings you up to climax then lets you down slowly.
The LP was cut perfectly and is honestly one of the loudest pieces of vinyl I’ve heard. To quote the pressing plant “…this was one of the most challenging cuts we’ve ever had to do. It took a long time to get it right…but we did it.” I can highly appreciate the precision and professionalism. Comes with 2 inserts, one of which is a double-sided, 2-color screen print by Sam Stoxen (Phage Tapes).
Skm-Etr – The Rugged Meat Cleaver CD [Eibon Records]
Crushing walls of white noise meet melodies, just to show the two styles aren’t oil and water….. Uncompromising harsh electronics with a somehow ‘musical’ edge, topped by lots of samples, in-your-face lyrics and thug attitude. Featuring contributions by Brethren, Slogun and Murderous Vision. Run, darling, run. Fast. The rugged meat cleaver is here FOR YOU !!
Sky Burial – There I Saw the Grey Wolf Gaping CD [Small Doses]
“There I Saw The Grey Wolf Gaping” marks a return to the shorter compostions which comprised Sky Burial’s first few releases. These tracks reflect the width and breadth of sounds which inspire Sky Burial’s brand of sonic eclecticism, from kosmische/krautrock, music concrete, and early industrial to shoegaze, ambient/drone, and avant-garde composers. Athough inspired by diverse genres, Sky Burial has created a cohesive sound of its own, often citing esoteric and mythological subject matter as a muse. This album features guest artists Danny Hyde (Coil), Jarboe, Anni Hogan (Marc and The Mambas/Willing Sinners), Jóhann Eiriksson (Gjöll, Reptilicus), Bridget Wishart (Hawkwind), Troum, Xiphoid Dementia and piper Craig McFarlane. This is the first Sky Burial album to make use of vocals and vocal intonations on several tracks. Edition of 500 copies packaged in Arigato packs with an 8-panel poster. The first 50 copies (small doses has ~20) include a 3″ cdr with an exclusive bonus track. Co-released by First Light.

Slaughter Fetus – Exterminate All Life C25 [ Danvers State Recordings ]
If you caught this HNW powerhouse on their recent tour, you know what you’re in for. Hot, sweaty, disgusting, brutally harsh wall noise from the bowels of the southern United States. Those of you who know me know that I’m VERY picky about wall noise…. so you should know that my recommendation of this cassette is essentially a guarantee. 50 copies.

The room of the Oracle and the hands of the architect – chopped off and hung on the wall so that he nevermore dares to create such grandeur. Sounds from this journey. Swamp Horse – Gravity C30 [Husk Records]
Swamp Horse is 2 man project featuring Josh Lay who records noise under his own name, and an unknown to me; Morgan Rankin. These two apparently create lo-fi drone/experimental with some folk influences. The sounds on Gravity features bleak, muddy textures; sound collage, lo-fi folk, and noise collide.
Talibam! / Wasteland Jazz Unit – Ecstatic Jazz Duos LP [Thor's Rubber Hammer]
First installment in the Ecstatic Jazz Duos series. Multi-part, proggy King Crimson destruction on the A-side and total reed distortion dragged through shards of filth on the flip.
Teatro Satanico – Black Magick Block CD [ Steinklang Industries ]
The new masterpiece from the black demons of electro-satanic Post-Industrial music !!! Black Magic Block is a very dense album, ful of scary droning soundwalls combined with sublime and hypnotic rhythms. Devis DeV deviLs g., Kalamun and Faber intonate lyrics from Aleister Crowley and Austin Osman Spare with their totally mental voices, aided by Musique Concret – like compositions from DeviLs g. in fact, BMB is a very varied album, in some passages it could even be called the blackest Industrial-Pop album ever, with a strong touch of early Pan(a)sonic and Suicide. 64 min. / 7 songs
Terra Teratos – Meditations About Secret of My Dark Destiny CD [Electrica Caelestis]
Terra Teratos is a one-woman symphonic ambient black metal band from Russia, although the label of black metal should be taken with a spoonful of salt. Meditations about secret of my Dark destiny is a gloomy odyssey through a huge variety of styles and sensations all defined by a dark and highly enjoyable atmosphere. The soundscape can only be describes as an unholy mixture of horror soundtracks and ambience harvested straight from the forlorn forests of some forgotten realm of fantasy. Influences include Puissance and The Summoning.
Torturing Nurse/Daruin/Stpocold – Split CDR [Abgvrd]
Limited CDR 3 way split of harsh noise mania from these Russian and Japanese artists. Out of print.
Troum – Ljubimaya | Daur CD [Abgvrd]
Reissue of two 10″ from the years 1998 and 2003. Daur is the very first release of TROUM and it resents very post-rock sounding material wth a lot of decipherable guitar parts and good drive. Ljubimaya was released by the Russian label Waystyx and carries you towards lyrical and touchy eternity of everbeginning melodies without an end, into emptiness of existence with all the uterine roar provided by YEN POX project in one of the tracks. The covers uses psychodelic image manipulations by Dmitri “HUM” Chistov.

Ur – Trieb CD [ Topheth Prophet ]
Ur was born from the collaboration between Federico Esposito and Mauro Sciaccaluga, both hailing from the hardcore-punk scene and from bands like Heartside (F.E.), Never Was, Downright, Kafka, Stalker (M.S.). The two joined in 2003 to work on F.E.s industrial solo-project (a.k.a. Den LXV) live set, later they decided to collaborate and improvise together to create a new entity. Andrea Ferraris joined the band in the early days of 2005, contributing to define further on the sonic identity of the combo. A.F. is well known for having played and recorded with different bands ranging from hardcore to indie-post rock to experimental music (Airchamber3, Deep End, Burning Defeat, Permanent Scar, Onefineday, Ultraviolet Make Me Sick, Permanent Scar, etc). Ur music is mostly based on improvisation that usually starts with drones or samples (with no pre-definite structure), to which they superimpose layers of electro-acoustic noisescapes coming from objects, field recordings, analog and traditional instruments processed using a load of pedals and effects. The sound ends painting a solid, harsh and dramatic industrial lounge where archaic instincts and modern obsessions meet. To use the words of a sound engineer after one of their live sets: it all sounds like early Pink Floyd on acid…on muriatic acid.
Urna – Liber Lelle CDR [ Abgvrd ]
Obscure art of Gianluca Martucci makes a big step towards shining eternity with every new recording. He started in early 90s with raw, dirty, blasphemous and fetid Black Ambient. Two of his recent albums that were released by Slaughter productions turned to acoustic sacral rituality.
The new album is devoted to the life and death of Angela da Foligno who was a Christian author, nun, and mystic. Voice, heart, breath, blood, bells, cymbals, percussion, mandolin, balalaika, zither, accordion and flutes weave of superfine ether strings a smooth covering canvas of acoustic music.

Camaraderie of Swedish act Deutsch Nepal, Russian act Noises of Russia, Ukrainian acts First Human Ferro and Filivs Macrocosmi assembled for an old school dark ambient / death industrial / experimental déjà vu. Deep isolationism, misanthropic / sociopathic dark industrial, religious noise mantras, and erotic mechanica crisscrossed to form an unforgettable pattern of the night to remember. Verdant – Sincerity CD [Existence Establishment]
Verdant is Zach Adams who is also the man behind BKPR the esoteric and obtuse harsh noise project of relative obscurity. With this new work Adams presents a new dimension to noise in the form of quiet power electronics. The work of Verdant focuses on spoken word, secret promises, dusty corners, delicate instruments, and obsolete equipment. In the span of a few tracks Verdant’s sound can range from a seething attack of brooding noise and industrial to carefully constructed soundscapes that feel stuck in the attic of an old victorian where even the walls whisper of the things they’ve seen.
Sincerity opens up a complex inner world of lost loves, silent betrayals, hidden jealousies, and blind grief forcing the listener to stumble in the darkness of a familiar place. The album is limited to 200 copies in a full-color 4 panel digipak.
Vistigial Limb – Immolation Ritual CDR [Small Doses]
Somewhat of a new direction for Ray Shinn’s vestigial limb project. The unbridled chaos that has defined his sound is a little more restrained and controlled here, creating a profound tension and unease. packaged in a folded vellum with a card front. numbered edition of 117 copies.

Wapstan – Stoneham CDR [Brise-cul]
Depending on your point of view, Stoneham can be the point of arrival from a long rite of passage or the entrance of it. Following the abyssmal discharge of last year’s “Le Peuple Du Grand Noir” Wapstan, expand it’s cold roots in the loud, cold and vast way that will drive you to your inner frost. Based on cold field recordings and recorded without any effects or digital retouche and mastered by Grkzgl for your hypothermic pleasure.
William Fowler Collins – Tenebroso CD [Handmade Birds Records]
Originally from rural New England and now living in New Mexico, William Fowler Collins (b.1974) is a musician whose work explores and synthesizes both musical and extra-musical elements. His work has been described as a cinematic blending of the dark ambient, drone, electroacoustic, noise, and ambient black metal genres of music.
With “Tenebroso”, William threads a cinematic element in his music that transcends even the best moments of classic Eno, permanently ushering William’s work to a plane only inhabited by timeless musicianship. It is with this seminal release- a milestone in an already prolific career- that we embrace as part of our Dark Icons Series.
Wilt – She C73 [Danvers State Recordings]
On most of their releases, WILT walks a fine line between dark ambient and death industrial.. this release sees them tip the scales all the way over the death industrial line. Harrowing, blackened noise comprised of synths, guitar, junk metal, vocals, etc. This tape sounds downright evil. Listen in the dark and listen loud. Includes a DISEMBOWELMENT cover. 50 copies.

Winters in Osaka – Mutual Collapse CD [ W.K.E.E.W.R. ]
Why is this here and why should you pick this up? Well, for one thing, it includes a collaborative track with Isidro Reyes and Mark Solotroff, along with Rich Hoak of Brutal Truth, from our spring 2010 recording session. It also includes a track featuring Nicola Vinciguerra of Fecalove. Not to mention the numerous other grindworld luminaries that took part…
Wolf Eyes – Always Wrong CD [Hospital Productions]
Always Wrong is a mantra of severity. Wolf Eyes has been scouring audiences across the globe with their acid drenched industrial noise and dub terror psychedelia, establishing themselves as the trailblazers of a genre and pioneers of the long-form noise tour. coming forth from the piles of tape loops and effects the bulk of tables reeling with electronics have been shed. This clarity never sacrifices intensity as paradoxically this is the most organic of the full lengths but also the harshest and most dissonant.
Opening track “Cellar” immediately sets the pace of barraged edits and percussive electronics as startling vocals spit from the dry throat and remain unfiltered for the first time breathing a clear litany of scorn. a new voice is rising and it isn’t happy. throughout the album non-electronic beats created from live drums replace programming while colliding tape loops and junk metal bring new unstable rhythm like a house with erroding foundation. “Living Stone” shows a more natural state of acoustic composition highlighting the despondent subtle plucking of controlled guitar improvisation that could come from natures ghost. forging ahead in “We All Hate You” loud tonal horns and architectuarly placed electronics. however their aesthetic core of pummeling hasn’t been abandoned as the aggressive “Broken Order” takes hold with shrill feedback fueling industrial cannon blasts of white hot noise that burn the body from the neck down. an eerie harmonica driven death march straight out of “once upon a time in the west” cries on the closing track ‘droll/cut the dog’
Immediately it is clear that Wolf Eyes have crafted a statement with maturity that stands at the top of their mysterious discography. Always Wrong is a denial against conformity and the triumph of walking a path alone. Young, Olson, Connelly.
Wolfskin – O Ajuntar das Sombras CD [ Malignant Records ]
Finally, after years of delay, O Ajuntar das Sombras by Wolfskin is finally unleashed. Initally intended to be a re-issue of 2001s very limited The Gather of Shadows by the Setting Sun CDr (Ajna), it eventually evolved into a re-working of three tracks from that release, complimented by 7 newly recorded tracks. As the Wolfskin era comes to end , this release represents a glimpse into their past a more organic, flowing ambient record than what you may find today, and perhaps the least conceptual of all their releases. That being said, it most certainly will go down as one of their more stunning, darker visions; a masterpiece of shadowy atmospheres and drifting currents, featuring multiple layers of archaic sounds, foggy, nebulous textures, and ritual invocations, perfectly combined to form a release of intense depth and complexity.Must certainly rank among the finest dark ambient records released in the history of Malignant. In elegant 4 panel digipak.
Xiphoid Dementia – In The Land of The Living 4×3″CDR [FTAM]
Announcing a new addition to the Xiphoid Dementia discography: In the Land of the Living 4×3″CDR from Peter J Woods’ Milwaukee based FTAM label. Over 60 minutes of new noise/drone/industrial atmospheres. The entire release is limited to 50 copies with a few available at the Existence Establishment shop. The label description is as follows:
Dark, brooding, and incredibly cold electronic soundscapes, slowly growing and fading over each disc. This is the useless call to an uninhabited world. The realization that nothing is out there. The first two tracks were recorded live in Richmond, VA and the last 2 were recorded in a deep dark isolation, but the quality on this is INCREDIBLY pro. Housed inside a plastic sleeve with 5 professionally printed inserts.
Xiphoid Dementia – Might Is Blight CD [Existence Establishment]
Might is Blight is a massive conceptual work that deals with a range of subjects from the socio-political to the personal and philosophical, focusing on my attempt to deal with this fucked up world. The album features 6 new obsessively composed tracks spanning over 70 minutes in length and explores the depths of death industrial, neo-classical, ambient, musique concrete, and power electronics.
Xiphoid Dementia – Secular Hymns CD [Malignant Records]
Actively recording since 1999, Egan Budd’s Xiphoid Dementia has become known in the underground and in numerous live situations for creating meticulously crafted yet hard to define, post industrial soundscapes, navigating between textured ambience, scourging noise, junk metal, field recordings, and surreal atmospheres, sometimes all in one track. Still, there’s a hyper-focus here that ties it altogether, and makes for something that is dynamic, unpredictable, and clearly ambitious. For those that question if there’s originality left in industrial music, Xiphoid Dementia answers with a resounding yes, though not so much in the sounds themselves, but rather how they are layered and placed.
The first track, Abortion Rites, manages to capture the essence of Xiphoid right off the bat; starting calm enough with a singular drone and a rising apocalyptic choir, only to be eventually engulfed in a firestorm of brain rattling noise and straining machine vibrations, before shifting gears into sprawling cosmic drones, deep bass drops, and processed vocal squall. Subsequent tracks follow a similar path, constantly moving from the cerebral to the physical, adding structural elements, then obliterating it in a mass of debris, mechanized whir, and sharp edged clutter. Of the four tracks here, the last track is perhaps the most focused, and certainly the bleakest; a 13 + minute excursion into a dystopian society full of utterly hopeless and dark, resonating atmospherics, and ending in a cyclonic blur of destructive noise and blackened filth. It’s perfectly executed and a suitable ending to what equates to an intensely visceral and creative listen. Hard to find comparisons here, but those that appreciate the dynamics of Navicon Torture Technologies, Prurient, and Propergol will certainly find something to like. In 6 panel digipak.
