With a fairly decent sized catalog behind their name, +DOG+ is no newcomer to the noise scene. Bliss consists mostly of loops and heavily distorted guitar work with some drums thrown in at times. The feel ranges from droning and lethargic to crushing and in your face. The influences apparently range here from some obvious Masami Akita homage to even a Sunn O))) feel (particularly on The Effing Blues).

It seems as though +DOG+’s intention is to keep a monolithic feel at all times while remaining strictly minimal in the quantity of sounds put in. Most of Bliss is very straightforward, though Hopefully Hoping stays very ambient, somber, and heavy in a slow, crushing kind of way while the following track Lucky blasts that all away in a massive cloud of distortion. Fairbanks School Hearing Test 1970 is a track of pure high pitched aggravation that doesn’t really do much for the album as a whole at all.

Overall, +DOG+ manages to get in a pretty heavy wall noise atmosphere while even throwing in some power electronics and harsh, angry vocals. It isn’t particularly original but the if the intent was droning, crushing sound, Bliss delivers on nearly all fronts.

<td width="40%"
