Cathartic Process<\/a><\/p>\n

With a brutal artistic direction, Flowerday\u2019s Snuff Film<\/em> is a fairly typical harsh noise wall release. While Flowerday doesn\u2019t do much to break from the mold on this tape, the sound is vicious and HNW fans will appreciate Snuff Film<\/em> for sure.<\/p>\n

Side A contains the most variation on the tape. The sound consists of harsh, HNW textures with subtle shifts in tone and odd noises rising out of the wall. Frequency and tone plays a big part here; sounds like high pitched squalls and low pitched rumbles create a capable sense of unity throughout. What sounds like tortured vocals fight their way through the mix. All of the textures wash over one another and create a satisfyingly immersive experience. Side B, on the other hand, is pure, straightforward HNW. Very little variation is to be found here. The track takes on a solid, wall noise sound and just persists until the end. The only real changes occur in the pulsating, entrancing feel the track takes. It\u2019s very typical of HNW, and while the juxtaposition between the more varied sounds and the more traditional, anti-music approach doesn\u2019t completely \u201cwork\u201d, this tape overall is solid.<\/p>\n

Fans of HNW will find a lot to like here, and while Side B may be dull for those not used to straightforward harsh noise wall, Snuff Film<\/em> is a brutal release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
