Crown of Cerberus is a project that creates ritual music through electronic means. Tending to rely on loops to create a repetitive, psychedelic, and oftentimes beautiful tapestry of sound the project is quite adept at achieving an otherworldly experience. Gracefully accompanied by an exquisite display of DIY art on this tacfully silkscreened packaging; this release is truly something special to behold.<\/p>\n

Side A contains the track Exalting Her Majesty’s Beauty from the Depths of Every Ocean, and from the Top of Every Mountain<\/i> which uses a familiar tactic for the project of repeating tape loops that contain layers of musical harmonies with a focus on female chanting to create a very heavenly atmosphere. This is the music you would most likely hear as you approach the gates of heaven if you were to make it there.<\/p>\n

Side B’s Bleeding Told from Her Wrists<\/i> focuses on a mixture of noise and ambient while still relying heavily on tape loops and delay. Although it’s a significant change from the tone of material on side A, the transition feels natural. CoC manages to make use of ambient and noise quite well to form a structure that maintains an influence of the heavenly tone utilized on side A but expands on it in a darker direction.<\/p>\n

This is the second release I’ve heard from this project and it is becoming clear that they are constructing some really good stuff here. A great mix of hi and lo-fi sound, focus on atmosphere with a simple yet effective use of loops that culminate into excellent soundscapes. Highly recommended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
