Disthroned Agony – Hexakrvl C30

Northern Lord

Disthroned Agony is a pretty infamous noise act by now due to many (rumored or true?) live antics. Here is a tape filled to the brim with the absolute filthiest noise I have heard in a while. This is more along the experimental and slow side of noise rather than spastic harsh cut-up style stuff.

Opening with an evil sample sounding like it came from some 80s horror flick Milking Potion is the first track and it sounds like a lot of distorted drones, slowed down vocals with screaming, death grunts and temper tantrums all thrown in for good measure. The layering is dense and chaotic with oscillating feedback loops coming to the surface at times. This remains through the other two tracks Sexual Vampirism and Blank Eyes Stare.

Side B starts on a more ambient note with a pitched down spoken sample, a softly repeating kick drum and ambient feedback tones slowly fading in for Slime Collector this sound works well for Disthroned Agony and breaks things up a bit. Eventually the track leads into power electronics territory and continues with aggression and a thudding rhythmic core.

Definitely an interesting cassette here, the packaging is well done with black print on silver paper and an overall lo-fi vibe. The material here isn’t really too polished or mature – which I refer to in terms of how lo-fi noise could be – but there is potential here.
